Garden maintenance
We provide regular, seasonal and one-off maintenance for gardens at family homes. Gardening work — mowing the lawn, caring for the beds, trimming shrubs and hedges, feeding and watering — follows the local weather rather than a fixed calendar.

What garden maintenance covers
We divide garden care by season rather than by a list of tasks. The same job means something different — and does something different — in April and in August.
- Spring. Pruning and shaping shrubs, renewing beds, regenerating and giving the lawn its first feed, starting irrigation after winter, and the first mow, which helps the lawn regain strength.
- Summer. Mowing, hedge cutting, watering set by how long it has been since rain, ongoing lawn and bed care, and checking for pests and disease.
- Autumn. Raking, autumn pruning, mulching beds, preparing perennials and more sensitive shrubs for winter, and winterising the irrigation.
- Winter. Protecting sensitive plants from frost, watching the forecast through sharper cold snaps, and checking the garden through the season when least work happens in it.
What to prepare
- an idea of frequency — one-off, seasonal, or regular through the year,
- whether you have working irrigation that should be part of the care routine,
- access to the plot on agreed dates,
- a list of more sensitive plants you want particular attention paid to,
- any allergies or restrictions that will affect the choice of fertilisers and plant protection products.
Why the usual maintenance calendar does not fit here
The season in Medzibodrožie is longer and drier than in the rest of Slovakia, so watering and mowing have to allow for longer spells without rain. Frequent close mowing only weakens a lawn in that kind of drought — in dry weeks we cut higher and less often.
Winter, by contrast, is continental, with sharp day-to-day swings and spells of harder frost. Winterising the irrigation and protecting the more tender woody plants are therefore not a formality: without them both the system and the plants suffer, and it only shows in full in spring.
The same goes for the lawn after the season. Following a hot, dry summer it needs a different approach to mowing and feeding than a lawn that never properly dries out.

Regular maintenance means regular travel, so distance counts for more here than on one-off jobs.
Garden maintenance in Kráľovský Chlmec and Medzibodrožie
Regular care is concentrated here — in Kráľovský Chlmec, Streda nad Bodrogom, Veľké Kapušany, Somotor, Boťany and Čierna nad Tisou. In the main season we can come weekly, and on the same round handle the spring start-up or the autumn winterising of the irrigation.
Mowing and seasonal care in Trebišov and the Trebišov district
In Trebišov, Sečovce, Slovenské Nové Mesto and the surrounding villages we mostly do seasonal packages and one-off work — spring renovation, pruning, autumn clearing. Regular mowing we can arrange when several addresses fall on the same day; otherwise the travel would cost more than the work.
Grounds care in Michalovce and the Michalovce district
In Michalovce and the surrounding villages the grassed areas are often larger. Those are cut with bigger machinery at longer intervals, so one visit does what would take three on a small garden. We agree the frequency and scope in advance, so they follow actual growth rather than the calendar.
Grounds maintenance in Košice and the Košice area
In Košice and the surrounding district, larger one-off or seasonal work makes sense — spring and autumn jobs, pruning mature trees, bringing a neglected garden back. We do not travel out for weekly mowing on its own; a contractor closer by will always be better value, and we will say so.
Frequently asked questions about garden maintenance
Intervals, timing, neglected plots and taking over an existing garden.
- How often is a lawn mown?
- In the main season, roughly April to June, once a week to once a fortnight — depending on the weather and on how the lawn is growing. In summer growth slows and the intervals stretch; in dry weeks it is cut higher, so the grass shades its own roots. In autumn the pace picks up again.
- How much does garden maintenance cost?
- For regular care what counts is the area, how often we come, and how much of the visit is mowing rather than the slower work of pruning and beds. Regular maintenance works out cheaper over a season than three one-off visits to the same plot — an overgrown sward takes more work and generates far more green waste to remove. We quote after a site visit and an agreed frequency.
- When are hedges and shrubs trimmed?
- A formal hedge takes two cuts a year — the first after the main spring flush, the second in late summer so it stays dense into winter. A late autumn cut is a bad idea: the new growth would not harden off and would be frosted. With shrubs the species decides — those that flower on old wood are cut straight after flowering, or you lose next year's blooms. In spring we cut with an eye to nesting birds.
- Will you take on a neglected garden?
- Yes, clearing an overgrown plot is routine work. The order matters: cut everything down and take out self-seeded scrub, remove the green waste, work out what is worth saving, prune the neglected trees, and only then restore the lawn and the beds. The first visit is the expensive one; after that it is ordinary maintenance. If it turns out the plot is better started again, we will offer a garden design rather than patch up what is there.
- Do you look after gardens you did not build?
- Yes. We start with a site visit — we look at the state of the lawn, the planting and any irrigation, and say what needs doing now and what can be spread across the season. Taking over an existing garden is routine, and often a few jobs in the right order are enough to bring it back.
- Do you maintain grounds for businesses and apartment blocks?
- Yes. It differs from a domestic garden mainly in the planning: a fixed scope and frequency are set for the whole season, mowing is done with larger machinery, and the times are chosen to interfere with the site as little as possible. We take the green waste away. We set the scope and price after seeing the grounds.
